In her role, Idil is responsible for setting the overall vision, strategy, and success of the professional development program. Idil brings extensive expertise in translating complex legal, policy, and human rights frameworks into applied learning from her background in migration governance, international law, and access to justice. She leverages deep leadership experience from her service as President of the Canadian Association for Refugee and Forced Migration Studies (CARFMS), her executive role on the International Association for the Study of Forced Migration, and her tenure as Editor-in-Chief of the International Journal of Migration and Border Studies. A recipient of the Ontario Early Researcher Award and principal investigator on major multi-jurisdictional research initiatives, Idil draws on her extensive work with systemic legal issues, empirical methodologies, and cross-sectoral policy analysis to drive practice-focused curriculum design, strengthening the law school’s reputation as an innovator in contemporary legal education.

Bernard is responsible for delivering professional development programs on behalf of Lincoln Alexander Law PD as well as in strategic partnerships with professional associations, governmental agencies, corporations, partnerships, and other units within TMU. Collaborating with subject matter experts, Bernard influences program development by providing insights into emerging legal trends and needs. Serving as a facilitator, he also provides guidance for diverse learning modalities. Lastly, he ensures that professional development activities align with learning outcomes and will implement robust evaluation systems to measure the effectiveness of these initiatives. Bernard is a seasoned educational expert with 20 years of experience in professional legal education and pedagogical practices. With a background deeply rooted in the legal profession, he brings a unique blend of practical knowledge and instructional expertise to our institution. Bernard’s dedication to enhancing learning outcomes and keeping abreast of legal developments positions him as a guiding force for our educational initiatives.
